Nik Aziz: People lack channel to express
feelings
KOTA BARU: The emergence of demonstrations in
Malaysia stems from a lack of channels for people to express their feelings and
opinions, Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat said.
Speaking after lauching the website of the
Kelantan PAS Dewan Muslimat (Women's wing) here yesterday, Nik Aziz said
expression of thoughts and feelings was part and parcel of being human.
"That's why there is such a thing as
newspapers. People want to know what's happening. However, the channel of
communication (PAS ceramah) is being blocked here and there, and this
gives rise to discontent,'' he said.
However, Nik Aziz said he opposed violent
demonstrations.
In Alor Star, PAS Youth chief Mahfuz Omar
denied yesterday having told Mingguan Malaysia that he supported plans to
topple the Government by force.
He said it was PAS' stand that any change in
the ruling government must be through the democratic process.
In Petaling Jaya, PRM questioned the police's
speedy response to investigate Keadilan Youth chief Ezam Mohd Noor.
Its president Dr Syed Husin Ali said the police
had acted unfairly by not acting on various police reports against several
government leaders.
Keadilan deputy president Dr Chandra Muzaffar
said none of the party's leaders had ever advocated to overthrow the government
through violence.
